voices
Voices is an image journey realized with artificial intelligence.
Women of different ethnicities - in different spatial situations - are confronted with themselves, in a moment of loneliness or at least being alone.
Confronted with the voices of memory, of the past, of conscience...
In the first part of the prompted picture journey, I chose women in hotel rooms.
Without any further explanatory context. Each one for themselves, in their moment with their picture alone.
We are not at home in hotels, we are strangers there and hopefully it is pleasant, but sometimes it is not...
Images which are generated using artificial intelligence - at least that's how I perceive it - could also create transcendent moments.
The raw material underlying this type of image creation is, if it's like to say, the past of the world.
So in a way it is a kind of communication with the beyond of our common world
of images and shared memories.
Or at least the part that has been and is fed into the respective generating programs.
From, so to speak, crushed, fragmented and reduced to the format of individual pixels
“Memories” become new simulated connections. Simulated new events, situations and realities.
As with almost no other art form, we are called upon to create a new one together
and to define reality comparison.
Such simulated images of new freedoms and captivity, are confrontating us in their form of art, or at least with this new tool to work with artfully, with questions about conscience and responsibility.
What is fascinating to me is the imperfections in the images generated.
The mirage-like absurdities of the simulated realities, which preserve a piece of “truth” in the bizarre disappointment.
A “truth” that does not allow us to believe the picture, what is shown. A provoke of
mistrust with the traditional desire for correction towards what is right or ideal.
In moments of peace with ourselves, we should listen to the voices that tell us what is or was right and wrong in our world. To listen for the voices that warn and remind us.
But because we are not alone, in a new, changing world we will also listen to the voices that seduce us and give us promises and hopes...
Artificial intelligence is a tool for new independent art forms.
In a certain way, the photographic image has replaced and enriched its artistic predecessors in the past. This is also the case with photography itself.
Going through the transformation of digitalization, the photographic image now begins to become an independent image.
Still emerging from the voices of the past...

At this point in my ai journey, I would like to take a moment and summarize.
I certainly have an advantage professionally in being self-taught with ai to be able to do.
I was able to implement my, to use an outdated term, “author photography” passion of telling short stories
cinematographically in a few images and image contexts relatively quickly and playfully using the tools of ai.
I also learned that the seductive danger of losing yourself in limitless fantasies is enormous.
A large part of my past and life experience involves traveling.
Generating images using ai allows me to put the experiences and encounters, impressions and memories I have gained,
into short fictional stories with a comparatively small amount of effort.
Aesthetically, I was able to continue to establish, maintain and also expand my classic photographic style, which was influenced by the imagery of the 20th century, with ai.
Cameras in different versions and contexts have been mine, for 39 years long a professional tool.
In my opinion, ai is able to replace this tool, at least for an incredibly large proportion.
High-end professional advertising photography has made use of such developments for a long time and will probably continue to do so...
Despite all the enthusiasm for the results, the people and situations, landscapes and spaces depicted remain unreal fantasies, fictional stories – fairy tales.
And that is exactly the fascination and strength of images generated by ai.
Well-designed photography created with a camera of real, living people, things, situations and circumstances should and must continue to be preserved and wanted.
A world based on fantasy and alleged simplification, with the opulence of the resulting world of images, deprives us of any real and true interpersonal and material relationship to the world.
Documenting the world and its events is essential !
Without experience and without knowledge, especially without responsibility, we lose ourselves and our empathy in a colorful, endless, intoxicating and seemingly simple world of ai.
With the exploding banalization of the pictorially, special through infinite multiplication and a reception that is approaching zero in its time,
we are inclined not only to loose the unique “aura of the work of art” described by Walter Benjamin almost 100 years ago,
but also the decent and dignified respect of the “holiness of the image” , in the frenzy of flickering.
Certainly big final words, but it is also a big change that needs to be addressed responsibly and, above all, with education.
Fiction and art can, may and must be humourus and witty in some way. However, they degenerate when they become pure jokes... © // 15 files show complete blog

the saint fictions
There is an incredible fascination in the possibilities of ai using words to create images.
But what images are created?
What images do we create; should or want to be created?
The seemingly endless treasure of ai lies in dissection and division what was in the pictures.
From parts of such image ruins of a past and documented world, a new world arises, that only exists for the image with all this seduction and magical power.
A spooky fireworks ; a rush. Also a game of coincidence, conducted by the
Invitation to improvise...
The more effort the naturalistic modeling takes, the more biased become the actual
magic, inherent in this tool. Reduced to comparability with photography as we know it, the ai images shine in their photographic and optical technology; but at the same time these are losing the power of authenticity.
The authenticity of the ai images lies more in their composition and in the sketchy, as well as in their collaged and surgical appearance.
It's more authenticity in the perception of connections similar to the film montage technique, than in the static content depicted.
In this respect, there is a certain transcendence inherent in ai images.
The more understandable and obvious the images are, the more power they lose.
The more fake an ai image actually is, in its tricky and deceptive guise, the more impressive its effect is. By fake it's certainly don't mean stupidly composed motifs.
Can you hear a picture?
With the possibilities of the fictional ai world, a first musical beginning has been made for this transponding, which currently still seems absurd and is probably not easy to understand...
