FELIX EISENMEIER

This series was taken in the city of Tulum in the state of Quintana Roo, Mexico. Many know this place as a touristic destination of mainly US citizens. The city grows at an enormous speed without suitable infrastructure. Streets are being cut through the forests - the spaces between are cut down for eco-chic apartment-blocks. Life goes on and locals adapt their lifestyle. The name Kukulkan is based on the mayan god of the winds and is a link to the "wind of change" that Tulum is going through. My aim was to point out the contrast between the new, modern and touristic parts and the mostly poor and simple locals and indigenous people. Besides that it was important to me, to show the bold colors of Mexico in all of the images and to have a main focus on the composition. I recommend listening to latin sounds while enjoying the series to really dive in.
