Many years ago, CHRISTIAN KAUFMANN photographed the popular Austrian actor Hans-Dieter Sigl, or Hans Sigl for short, who became famous in German-speaking countries thanks to the series ‘Der Bergdoktor’, which has been broadcast since 2008.
"A laid-back guy and up for any kind of mischief. Serious on the inside, pure playfulness on the outside. No attitude at all, even if he expresses his opinion clearly,“ says Christian Kaufmann, photographer, and continues: ”So there we are on the set on the last sunny day of fall, behind him his “practice” - and behind me his fans. While I'm taking pictures, he explains to them that they should pay more attention now, that's how you take good photos. If my pictures don't turn out well, he can use the fans'... Great laughter on all sides.
Afterwards, he goes to everyone, signs autographs, takes selfies, chats and says goodbye. That's the way to do it. His viewers are just as important to him as the station's ratings.
Then it's off to the mountain. There he continues without fans, but with a view of the Wilder Kaiser that will make you envious. After the next few shots, his charming smile and wink say: Have we got it? Yes. Unfortunately. It was just so nice and I don't really want to stop taking photos."
“Next time we'll take photos at my place by the lake!” says Hans Sigl, gets into the car and drives down into the valley. Hans Sigl has been married to the musician and photographer Susanne Sigl, formerly Kemmler, since June 2008 and lives with her on the beautiful lake Ammer in Bavaria.... So see you next time at the lake !

Friday the 13th - and a light drizzle at only 8 degrees..... Almost perfect conditions for a team photo! In front of photographer CHRISTIAN KAUFMANN's camera: the legendary FC BAYERN MÜNCHEN including uber-talent Jamal Musiala, who is already being compared to the best in his sport. The youngest debutant in the Bundesliga, the youngest goalscorer in the Bundesliga and the youngest Champions League goalscorer - the facts speak for themselves. But Musiala is not the only player to be named in the exceptional Bavarian squad: Kimmich, Kane, Goretzka, Müller..... all legends.
“Team photo. Thomas Müller's favorite pastime. And on his birthday of all days, this time not inside but outside in a covered location. And that too.....” says photographer Christian Kaufmann and continues: ‘After a polyphonic ’I'm cold' it doesn't take long as always and all the motifs are in the box. With the big pot of Haribo next to the camera and a grin on their faces, they head back to the dressing room and: Training at last!”
Bayern München e. V. was founded on February 27, 1900 and, with 382,000 members, is one of the sports club with the most members in the world. The soccer club is the German record champion with 33 championship titles and the German record cup winner with 20 cup victories. The club is also one of the most successful clubs in Europe at international level, having won eight European Cups, including six in the Champions League and the European Cup of Nations.

CHRISTIAN KAUFMANN had the pleasure of working with Steve Windorf again. “We jumped at the opportunity and were able to photograph in an almost empty hotel. We couldn’t have found a more relaxed location. His girlfriend Kerstin Landsmann, an actress herself, couldn’t help posing for the camera, too.”
Certainly a really big thing for big boys, no matter how old, is getting to stand between planes at the airport and take pictures. And a commission for DEUTSCHE AIRCRAFT granted Christian and his team just that on a sunny day in Oberpfaffenhofen. “But it’s funny: Nobody wanted to let me fly…”
Stefan Duve, a dermatologist from Munich, was in the studio where he was shot for his new website. : “A person who’s just as charming as he is funny. You’d never notice that he actually prefers not to be in front of the camera, it was such a great job he did…”
Physicist, computer scientist and TV presenter, Philip Häusser, was the next to pose for Christian’s lens for his latest boom on A.I. : “When asked about the topic of his dissertation, I received the dizzying answer – “strategies for solving computer vision with less labeled data.” Any questions? I think I’ll just stick to photography…”
The portrait of referee Dr. Felix Brych was almost a neighborhood shoot : “We could have biked it to the location together since we were taking almost the same route. The shoot on the Isar was just as relaxed and fun – the only thing missing was an after-work drink…”
“A unique moment was shooting the portrait of Franz Beckenbauer amid all the trophies he had won as a player and coach. For the occasion, we even had the original World Cup trophy on set, which you never get to lay your hands on – as a photographer who can’t even kick a ball from A to B without getting hurt…” Because when the Kaiser is coming, how Beckenbauer is referred to affectionately, you better have the original trophy there for it.
Following the meeting of the European Club Association, which Christian Kaufmann had the pleasure of photographing, he had “two younger colleagues” of Mr. Beckenbauer in front of his lens. UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin and PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi : “I have rarely had such little time to photograph… And I ended up taking longer for the shoot again because I couldn’t stop talking.”
The title of Wolfgang Rothe’s book, “Abused Church”, is uber-topical and gives plenty of room for discussion. The laid-back images for the book were created afterwards.
