Matthias David, born in Bremen in 1978, completed a photography course at the Lette-Verein in Berlin and in the early noughties began photographing the city's celebrities and semi-celebrities as well as international stars - for brands such as Levi's and SEAT, but also for pop cultu ...moree and lifestyle magazines. The noughties, as the volume shows quite impressively, were not only the last days of cheap rents, but also of print publications. For two of these magazines that no longer exist today - FACE and BLANK - David worked together with Johannes Finke, who today also runs the Bravo Bar in addition to the Herzstückverlag. (show less)

During Berlin Art Week, Matthias David is exhibiting photos by his photographer friend SARAH ZAK starting on 14 September ’23 at his bar Hier wo du strahlst (Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße 20, 10177 Berlin).
