Events • WEST CONTEMPORARY EDITIONS presents : FIN DAC – AFTERGLOW/UNDERTOW at London’s GALLERY DIFFERENT from 23 – 30 October

20.10.2021 • Internationally renowned street artist Fin DAC, considered one of the artists most worth collecting alive of his genre, is on display for the first time in London with his long-awaited solo exhibition ‘Afterglow/Undertow’. This is of course a prime opportunity for collectors to experience a Fin DAC exhibition. Because due to his hectic international schedule and his unwavering principle of only producing artwork of the finest quality, these kinds of events are extremely rare.

West Contemporary, long-term collaborator, gallerists and a fixture themselves in contemporary British art, are charged with hosting ‘Afterglow/Undertow’, a culmination of twelve months of studio work and six years of street work. Recent collaborations between the gallery and artist have included the sold-out print project ‘Velveteen’ and the Spring 2021 collision between Fin DAC and Mick Rock, the celebrated English rock photographer, who teamed up for ‘Midaro’ – a mixed-media reimagining of Rock’s portraiture work with Debbie Harry, Lou Reed, David Bowie, and Iggy Pop that garnered significant press around...

Events • ‘A few steps from home’ – a project by Andreas VIGL c/o KLAUS STIEGEMEYER, the film for the project made it into the official selection of the BANFF Film Festival 2020

06.10.2021 • We are delighted to present you the beautiful project ‘A Few Steps From Home’ by photographer Andreas VIGL c/o KLAUS STIEGEMEYER. Film support came from El Flamingo.

We’ll let Andreas Vigl tell you about it himself : “Yes, it might be one of the most widely spread clichés, but there is some truth to it : You find the most beautiful paradises at your doorstep; all you have to do is look hard enough. In the winter of 2020, we spent a long weekend in a real oasis which has been hidden from our plain sight for so long. A secluded hut, so close to home that we could even see the city and the highway through the windows. How often must we have driven by this spot without having spared a thought about skiing? We spent three days amidst the mountains, surrounded by tree runs, spines and couloirs in a terrain reminiscent of Canada and Alaska. Three days of ski, eat, sleep, repeat. As simple as that. The trip was accompanied by El Flamingo Films. The mini-documentary has landed a spot in the official selection of the BANFF Film Festival 2020."

The Banff Mountain Film Festival is a film...

Cheyenne ELLIS c/o ALYSSA PIZER MANAGEMENT photographed her personal project in the Bonny Doon Forest Temple, the “magical retreat space in the Santa Cruz mountains.” Cheyenne : “The Heart Song Retreat in Bonny Doon hosted by some of my beautifully talented friends, ripped me wide open. Thank you to everyone who made this possible. So much love and laughter poured into this project.”

On the website of the temple, we read : “The Bonny Doon Forest Temple was created with healing in mind. Our land offers an opportunity to disconnect from civilization, breathe in fresh air & rejuvenate on a cellular level. Upon arrival, you can feel your circadian rhythm start to regulate. We often walk barefoot through the woods and garden to simply feel the damp forest floor between our toes. It’s grounding – the principle that guides all elements of life on our land.”

Eva Holbrook, Principle Designer : “The Hideaway is a place birthed completely from my heart space & intuition. I have deep reverence for the land and animals that live in this forest, as well as those who...
