Tegut has 272 branches in Hesse, Bavaria, Lower Saxony, Rhineland-Palatinate, Thuringia, and Stuttgart with approximately 5780 employees. Since January 2013, tegut has been owned by the Swiss retailer Genossenschaft Migros Zurich. tegut was founded in 1947 by Theo Gutberlet under the name Thegu, which was derived from the initial letters of his first and last name.
