Julia Prochworuk has been head of art buying at KNSK in Hamburg for many years. This year she supports the SCREENings photography award as a judge. Two good reasons to stop by at the Hamburg agency.
She’s in a good mood when she meets us, but who wouldn’t be, with a view overlooking the Outer Alster Lake. The retro chic shell of the impressive building, which houses Hamburg advertising agency KNSK, is nicely interrupted by the minimalist interior design. Very clean and pleasantly sparse, the view over the sailing boots is simply fantastic.
Hence it’s the perfect place for creative art buying. It’s here that Julia has Go-Sees with photographers almost every single day – and today she has a Go-See with GoSee.
In everyday business she advises on the realistation of creative ideas and finds the perfect photographer or illustrator. Julia says: ‘we supervise projects up to the final image, regardless if it’s classically photographed or virtually created in 3D/CGI on the computer’. She is the – charming – interface between agency and supplier. And that involves cost and accounting control or clarifying third party rights.
Around 100 employees constantly come up with new ideas for clients such as Evonik Industries AG, WMF,AXA, CWFG, TOTAL, BMU or Union Investment and German TV channel ZDF, to name a few.
She got married in May, so remember the name has changed from ‘Gaentzsch’ to ‘Prochworuk’. She laughs when she tells us: ‘in the past I had to spell my name all the time and now I still do’.
And looking back? She was born in Hildesheim and really learned her trade: She did a classic three-year photography apprenticeship near Hannover and then moved to Hamburg in 2003 to assist Olaf Hauschulz among others.
We are pleased to present great current artwork here on GoSee and are very much looking forward to seeing Julia in Berlin. And who can blame us if the feeling is mutual? Here is her lovely statement about our work on the other side of advertisement:
‘As an art buyer daily networking via diverse platforms is an integral part of my job. I like to use the GoSee online service to contact photographers, illustrators, stock photo agencies, set builders, post-production teams, model, casting, H&M, and styling agencies.
I love to visit the UPdate Salon to get information and compare notes in person. I feel honoured to judge the SCREENings award this year. I’m looking forward to seeing the many, hopefully great entries and deliberating with my fellow judges.’
