'A definitive wardrobe for autumn and winter, co-designed by ARKET and Penny Martin of The Gentlewoman'. - The latest work for ARKET features the editor-in-chief of The Gentlewoman, Penny Martin. The collection 'explores notions of appropriateness, comfort, identity, and the dichotomies of everyone's life: daytime versus evening, weekday versus weekend, casual versus formal.

LS PRODUCTIONS was responsible for the entire local service production for all Scottish shooting elements. Filming took place on location in Fife, Scotland. So much for the swimsuit theme .... The production was realized in collaboration with Rosco Production.

“Working with Penny Martin - a long-time friend of ARKET - we explored themes of appropriateness, comfort, identity and everyday situations that couldn't be more different, such as day and night, weekdays and weekends, casual and elegant. As the vacations come to an end and fall approaches, thoughts about styling and identity resurface: How can today's modern woman stay true to herself when appearing in public?” ARKET.

After 20 years in London, Penny moved to Scotland during the pandemic, where she grew up. She ended up in the small coastal town of Cellardyke in the Fife region purely by chance: “I never thought I would live here,” says Penny Martrin. Today, she travels to London twice a month on the night train so as not to lose touch with the editorial team. During her stay, she spends the night in the Member's Club, where she believes a “strict” dress code applies. She deals with it almost like a task: “I think about it a lot more these days; appropriate dress and the joy of being able to get around such rules.”

In 2001, she received a completely unexpected call from fashion photographer Nick Knight. He offered her an editorial job for his influential fashion website SHOWstudio, which was limited to three months. But it turned into seven years.....Now in her 50s, Penny is editor-in-chief of The Gentlewoman, a magazine she helped launch in 2010.
