Osman ÖZEL c/o SHOTVIEW presents us his thrilling new work between sport and fine art. Following ‘Synchronized Swimming’ (GoSee reported), the photographer has now discovered his love for figure skating. In ‘Synchronized Ice Skating’, he accompanies synchronized skaters while they perform their fast-paced choreographies on the ice (art direction: Yagmur Kural, photo assistant: Thomas Berhitu).
Synchronized skating is the newest discipline in figure skating and is originally from North America. In the 1960s, the first competitions were held. Similar to singles skating, competitions include a short program and a free skate. In their short program, skaters must show five required elements, but they have more creative freedom in their free skating program.
