‘Madame Arthur’ – the Paris cabaret is celebrating its 75th Anniversary – a backstage report by Jonas UNGER c/o BIRD PRODUCTION for M Le Monde

The first Paris transvestite cabaret ‘Madame Arthur’ is celebrating its 75th birthday this summer as well as a joyful renaissance. For M LE MONDE, Jonas UNGER c/o BIRD PRODUCTION took a look behind the scenes of the time-honored establishment.

Joseph Ginsburg, the father of Serge Gainsbourg, was a pianist there. Gainsbourg himself replaced him sometimes and composed several songs there too. The cabaret continues in the heritage of Bambi, Fétiche and Coccinelle, who performed there at a time when cross-dressing was not without risk.
