Ian McEwan, born 1948 in Aldershot (Hampshire), lives near London. In 1998, he received the Booker Award, and in 1999, the Shakespeare Award of the Alfred Toepfer Foundation. Since his worldwide success ‘Atonement’, each of his novels has been a bestseller, several have been filmed, and recently, ‘On Chesil Beach’ (with Saoirse Ronan) and ‘The Children Act’ (with Emma Thompson) opened in movie theaters.
