As part of the photography festival FOTO WIEN, the Austrian Fashion Association (AFA) is presenting the exhibition ‘Platz da’ (Move Along). The exhibition title is derived from the cinematic work of the same name which was realized by Staygoodbye, a creative platform of photographer Yannick Schuette and stylist Simon Winkelmüller, on commission for the Austrian Fashion Association for the Austrian Fashion Awards 2022.
“The photographic work on display in the exhibition transforms moments of visibility, privilege and habit. At the same time, Schuette and Winkelmüller want to ‘Make Space’ as a conscious decision which must be made mutually. It can be playful, fun, unifying and can enable unusual places for people to come together. ‘Move along’ reproduces the artistic practice of the participating Austrian fashion designers in poetic moments,” says AFA.
FOTO WIEN is now 10! Austria’s largest festival of photographic images is kicking off its anniversary edition on 1 June and is exploring the topic of ‘Photography Lies’. With around 300 events in 110 venues and 350 artists from 25 countries, the festival embedded in the European Month of Photography is entering its 10th round. For the first time, FOTO WIEN has been organized by FOTO ARSENAL WIEN – with its festival base in the Museum Quarter – and is taking place from 1 – 30 June, 2023.
In parallel, 30 publishing houses are presenting the latest photo books as part of the BOOK DAYS. And taking place for the first time is the VIENNA VINTAGE PHOTO FAIR. To accompany the festival, a book is being published by Steidl Publishing.
