Inspired by Black Friday in America, Chinese multibillionaire Jack Ma, the founder of Alibaba, was looking for a similar day suitable for an annually recurring promotional sale. He ultimately chose the 11th day of the 11th month, i.e., 11 November of each year, the day with the most ones in it, making it the ideal number for marketing purposes and the definitive number for his Singles’ Day shopping event – which took place for the first time in 2009.
For the DOUGLAS SINGLES’ DAY SPOT by Director Katia Wik, Anna SADAMORI and Melisande PAGE - both c/o SHOTVIEW - were responsible for makeup and hair.
