For the second time the STRIKE A POSE Festival has staged cross-genre intersections between fashion and art at the Museum K21 in the Ständehaus venue and in galleries throughout Düsseldorf’s metropolitan area. Jury Chairperson Ilona Marx, (fashion expert, journalist) explains : “Just how fashion and art take flight in symbiosis, while exchanging ideas and leading one another to new horizons, is what we had the pleasure of experiencing at the first edition of the festival last year in July – and we were once again surprised this year by all the creativity and visionary competition entries.” Tina Husemann from letoile-pr.de put together a wonderful review for us.
The winners of strike – a pose Awards 2022 for the two best cooperations are artist Karen Paulina Biswell and designer Angelika Kammann (SOCIÉTÉ ANGELIQUE) with the gallery wildpalms (Düsseldorf), as well as artist Anna Virnich and designer Annelie Schubert with the gallery DREI from Cologne, who presented their work in K21.
The three-day festival program consisted in 2022 of the Gallery Day on Friday, 24 June, the Fashion Day in K21 on Saturday, 25 June, and the symposium ‘Break the rules & set yourself free! Diversity in Fashion and Art’ on Sunday, 26 June.
A highlight of the Fashion Day on Saturday on the piazza of K21 was the première of a performance by Japanese artist Takako Saito, co-initiated by the gallery boa-basedonart, at which visitors got to experience the sound and book dresses sewn personally by Takako Saito in a dynamic presentation.
A further highlight was the presentation of the AMD – Academy for Fashion & Design Düsseldorf, at which the fashion of the AMD graduates was staged by dancers of the ballroom scene in a voguing performance.
The strike a pose Festival for Art, Fashion and Style is to be continued next year and will take place annually.
