‘Resistance Through Rituals’ : GmbH – the Berlin-based label for men’s and women’s fashion – was founded by Benjamin Huseby and Serhat Isik. For their Spring/Summer ‘25 runway show for Berlin Fashion Week ‘24, they put their trust in the hairstyling skills of Ruby HOWES c/o SHOTVIEW ARTISTS MANAGEMENT.
Isik and Huseby met in 2015 on a dance floor in Berlin. Isik had just left the Berlin-based collective Bless, where he had been responsible for designing men’s fashion, and Huseby was working as a freelance fashion photographer, shooting for Fantastic Man, i-D, Vogue, Acne Paper, and Harper’s Bazaar. Isik is Turkish and German, while Huseby has Norwegian and Pakistani roots. Such beautifully diverse ethnicity is, of course, often referenced throughout their eco-conscious sustainable clothing collections.
Their first collection came out in 2016. And for their second, the designers were nominated for the LVMH Prize and added to the Dazed annual list of 100 people shaping the future of youth culture. Interwoven into the fashion of the label GmbH, named after a German acronym which translates roughly to ‘Ltd.’, are topics such as community, migration, LGBTQ rights, … and it gives marginalized groups a voice – all while establishing a fashion identity right in the middle of Berlin.
