Italian fashion and clothing company MONCLER with French roots is internationally known for its down jackets in the upper price segment. Founded in 1952 as a mountaineering outfitter, the company transitioned at the beginning of the 1980s from a manufacturer of professional mountain climbing equipment into a lifestyle brand.

In 1992, the Italian company Pepper Industries S.p.A. acquired majority shares of the, until that time, French label Moncler, which enjoys enormous popularity, and particularly in the Asian market.
