Limited-edition handmade clothing - FUTURE PRIMITIVE is a New York City-based fashion brand which designs clothing for a global consumer with a consciously acquisitive nature. The collection is made from handwoven silks and fine cotton, block-printed and tailored by celebrated artisans in Jaipur.

Future Primitive was founded by Jenna Nankin, a fashion industry forecaster. In the 1990s, as fashion editor and stylist, she moved between New York and San Francisco at the explosion of the early tech boom. That fusion combined with her education in textile design have led her to travel the globe and meet makers in village towns where she now produces limited collections. Her designs are inspired by her cultural influencers and created for intelligent, adventurous women who understand the art of dressing.

Since 1997, Jenna Nankin has dedicated her unique artistic vision to the world of fashion, luxury, home, food, and film. Jenna launched Gap Direct (the first in-house digital studio to produce photos for all Gap brands), and Jenna was one of the founding art directors of the successful Gilt Group. She has a strong background in fashion editorial and was an editor at Surface magazine.
