The future is electric! – Matthias Aletsee photographs the BMW iX3 concept car on the one-of-a-kind Ahornboden in the Karwendel Mountains, Tirol

With its Concept iX3, BMW presented a design study of the first fully electric Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) at Auto China, 2018. Equipped with BMW's fifth generation eDrive technology and a high-performance battery with more than 70 kWh, this series model of the future offers a driving range today of more than 400 km daily at a charging time of only 30 minutes. With this technology, the BMW Concept iX3 takes e-mobility to a whole new level.

MATTHIAS ALETSEE recently photographed the BMW iX3 concept car on the famous Großer Ahornboden in the Karwendel mountains, Tirol. Since 1972, Großer Ahornboden has been under special protection as a natural monument, prohibiting maple trees from being felled. Still, a great number of the approximately 600-year-old trees are dying, which is why the initiative has been busy replanting them individually. We want to preserve the natural landscape. Located directly on Großer Ahornboden is the Eng Alm mountain pasture – an alpine village with chalets like out of a picture book. Many of these wooden cabins have seen just as many come and go as the surrounding maple trees.
