What do transportation photographers do when confined to the home office? At the beginning of the Corona Crisis, the two photographers Michael Compensis & Thomas von Salomon from WE! shoot it asked themselves the same question. The pandemic has a stranglehold on all of us. Shooting on location is practically no longer possible, so the creative duo involuntarily wound up in the home office, too. But the creative juices keep on flowing and need an outlet. Which is why – despite closed DIY stores and lockdown – the creative duo has presented an automotive photo every day for two weeks from their photo studio home office. Where? On their Instagram channel of course.
“To do this, we went back to the roots and, instead of using Photoshop, we came up with creative recording techniques and did a lot of tinkering. All shots were staged with materials, models or toy cars found on our own shelves at home or from friends. The result are motifs from the kitchen studio, dynamic rig shots on the dining room table or high-speed racing scenes around the espresso machine. A laundry basket is transformed into modern architecture, dinner is followed by an homage to the great era of transportation photography, and a truck delivers toilette paper supplies at night..."
On GoSee, the two present their favorite motifs garnished by a few beautiful glimpses behind the scenes. Whet your appetite? Then take a look at their Instagram channel : instagram.com/we.shoot.it. Because there’s much more to see there! And even though they had a lot of fun taking the photos in the home office, the two car aficionados can hardly wait be let loose again on real streets in real locations.
