‘The best Outback of all times promises pure driving pleasure” – PATRICK SALONEN stages the SUBARU climbing for Swiss agency Virus Ideenlabor

“The Subaru models accompany an active target group during their leisure activities. They trust the versatile vehicle – both in urban environments and off-road.” we quote Virus Ideenlabor. These words quite befittingly describe the campaign which kicked off this spring 2021. The photo material for the first motif came from PATRICK SALONEN. He had access to the SUBARU* image pool to find the perfect photos of the various models. The climbing wall was then generated by means of CGI.

The Subaru Corporation is the worldwide largest manufacturer of all-wheel-drive cars. Following the introduction of its first flat engine (boxer) in 1966 and its first all-wheel drive production series of passenger cars in 1972, the typical permanent all-wheel-drive vehicle, Symmetrical AWD, was launched in 1987. To this day, it has been a pillar of the Subaru core technology and is continuously perfected according to the state of the art. In Switzerland, the brand Subaru has been represented by the Emil Frey Group since 1980.

Patrick Salonen, born 1977 in Bern, lives and works in Thun and Bern (Switzerland). Ever since he founded his post production studio in 2004, he has been retouching campaigns for clients including Audi, Volkswagen, Deutsche Bahn, DHL, Credit Suisse and many others.

Responsible for the Subaru campaign was the Biel-based full-service agency Virus Ideenlabor. The job was under the executive of Art Director Reto Wahli. The campaign will be continued. We can’t wait to see the next motifs !

*The origin of the name SUBARU : After Fuji Heavy Industries was founded on 15 July, 1953, and the first automobile prototype P1 was built in 1954, the company looked for a name for its vehicles from that point onward. Due to the fact that new company had been formed from six reunified companies of the former Fuji Sanyo group, the first President of FHI came up with the brand name Subaru, which literally translates to join or unite and is also the Japanese name of the Pleiades constellation. In Japan, the six brightest stars are considered to be the constellation Subaru from ancient times, which is why they were chosen as the Subaru logo.
