7 Seas Productions : Take Me to Cuba. The winds of change are a’ blowin' over the distant island
Good news from Cuba! Never ever in the 13-year long history of Christian Bengsch’s production company 'Take me to Cuba', have so many enquiries for shoots made their way onto the desk as in the 2011/12 season.
In conversation with GoSee, head of production Christian Bengsch explains, ‘you can feel the ‘Winds of Change’, petite liberties are creating cracks in the national climate with ever increasing freedom pouring through the crevices. The Aficionados now have their own little business, local film makers, photographers and Internet specialists have ceased to wait for better days, and are just getting on with it’.
He continues, ‘some of the 'Casas Particulares' have become B&Bs, with swimming pools and restaurants, which can easily compete with the beloved small hotels in North America, Brazil or Europe.’
Photography teams enjoy the pleasant sides of a caring supervision, as recently demonstrated by LOOK magazine, UK or Swedish catalogue distributor CELLBES, both of which visited Havana for productions.
The CELLBES Swedish production arrived with no less than two teams, completing shoots for both autumn and winter and it seems that winter is rightfully said to be the most eccentric of the seasons … have a look at the making-of photographs and see for yourself.
On the other hand, LOOK magazine sent two photographers to Cuba, Chad Pickard and Paul McLean. Both are part of the new generation of photographers, who share responsibilities of digital OP and photography.
