...it's now been a year since I started working on image using ai. Initially skeptical about this new tool, my attitude quickly changed to one of enthusiasm. I was thrilled by the ultimately known but not always present in mind possibilities of the playful combinations of ai-image design. Playfully “roll the dice,” so to speak, to create something “new” from the “fragments of what already exists”; then to reject or accept this with knowledge and experience to ensure the credibility of the authentic. To exploit this, is what creates the tension in my ai-image work. My goal in photography was always to tell a story or a movie in one and with one image, detailed but still with high intensity and precision; this already before the possibilities of ai; in digital photography and before that with analogue means. Image design with ai opens up access to “big pictures” that would otherwise only be possible with a correspondingly large financial and organizational effort. With ai my photography has been catapulted into a qualitatively new dimension of “cinematographic storytelling in still photography”.
