The works of SYNCHRODOGS c/o SHOTVIEW explore the perpetual tension between humanity and nature. They create images that showcase a raw, almost animalistic beauty, while simultaneously radiating a strange elegance. The artist duo Tania Shcheglova and Roman Noven investigate how far humans have encroached upon untouched, wild territories in their works. Their art emerges from a close collaboration, almost like a synchronized choreography, with a shared aesthetic and vision.
The works of SYNCHRODOGS reveal how the Earth changes when humans intervene in natural processes. Their art balances between reality and fantasy, taking the viewer into a dreamlike world. Through their work, they aim to raise awareness of the importance of living in harmony with nature and taking responsibility for our planet.
Despite their deep exploration of ecological and societal issues, SYNCHRODOGS are also open to commercial and fashion projects. Their artistic experiments are highly valued by major brands and fashion clients who are eager to embrace the duo’s creative and unconventional approaches. These collaborations allow Synchrodogs to bring their unique vision into the world of advertising and commercial design while maintaining their artistic freedom. Last year, SYNCHRODOGS won Gold at the GoSeeAWARDS with their works – we are excited to present the duo with new works, the "Overture" project, and an interview on GoSee.
GoSe: Your works combine conceptual photography with CGI and AI, and you are considered pioneers in this field. Which current trends and innovations in the art and advertising industries fascinate you the most? Synchrodogs: We are particularly fascinated by the integration of Artificial Intelligence in the creative process. AI serves as a tool that expands and enriches our artistic endeavors, allowing us to explore new realms of creativity that are not always possible with pure photography. For instance, in our project "Overture," we collaborated with AI to create surreal sculptures that transcend the possibilities of physical installations, pushing the boundaries of traditional art forms, but created those merging our own archive of photography that took us 16 years to create. We do consider photography our main art tool though, there is this degree of sincere and real energy that analog photography conveys and we love it.
You now live in Portugal, but your artistic journey began in Ukraine and also took you to the megacity of Los Angeles. How did you end up there, what do you like most about it? And how have these different environments influenced your creative approach and work methods? Synchrodogs: Our journey has been deeply influenced by our Ukrainian roots, where we drew inspiration from the raw and somehow wild nature of our surroundings. Traveling to diverse locations like Iceland, Turkey, Japan, India, USA and now residing in Portugal has enriched our perspective, allowing us to blend various cultural elements into our work. It also is exciting to find some surrealistic locations that actually exist in real life and document them. Each environment offers unique landscapes and atmospheres that contribute to the evolution of our creative approach, enabling us to adapt and innovate continuously.
Your works focus intensely on the theme of humanity and nature. How do you view the role of art in relation to ecological and societal issues? Synchrodogs: Art plays a pivotal role in raising awareness and inspiring change regarding ecological and societal issues. Through our work, we aim to highlight the intrinsic connection between humans and nature, encouraging viewers to reflect on their relationship with the environment. By showcasing the beauty and fragility of the natural world, we hope to foster a sense of responsibility and motivate actions toward preservation and sustainability.
The Toyota WeTransfer campaign or the one for KADEWE last year are great examples of your collaborations with big brands. What does it mean for you to translate your artistic concepts into commercial projects? Where do you see the biggest challenge and the greatest freedom in this type of collaboration? Synchrodogs: Translating our artistic concepts into commercial projects involves balancing our creative vision with the brand's objectives. We always find common ground with the client to develop the best visual and conceptual product that aligns with their vision, product philosophy, and commercial expectations. This synergy allows us to create compelling work that resonates with both our artistic identity and the brand's message.
With the development of AI and CGI – do you see these technologies as a kind of "new nature" in art, or more as tools that expand and enrich the creative process Synchrodogs: We perceive AI and CGI as tools that significantly expand and enrich the creative process. They enable us to visualize and construct concepts that were previously unimaginable, pushing the boundaries of traditional art forms. While they introduce new dimensions to our work, we continue to ground our art in the natural world, using technology to explore and reinterpret our connection to it. AI can be a powerful tool, just like photography, video, 3D, or painting. We live in the world of diverse possibilities and we like to feel no borders in artistic expression, so we gain knowledge in many genres and creative fields, as maybe knowledge is the most powerful tool after all.
You've collaborated with many big brands like Burberry, Louis Vuitton, and Swarovski. What criteria and values are crucial for you when deciding to collaborate with a brand? Is it sometimes difficult to convince clients of your vision? Synchrodogs: As professionals with years of experience, we are flexible and capable of meeting any brand’s inquiry. For us, every collaboration is a form of creative expression—we love working with brands and see it as an opportunity to bring bold, vivid commercial work to life. Transparent communication is essential to ensure both parties have aligned expectations. While it is always a playful quest to align our vision with commercial objectives, we find that open dialogue and mutual respect often lead to successful collaborations where our creativity is both valued and effectively integrated into the brand's narrative. We apply innovative technologies in our commercial work, creating experiences that resonate on a deeper level with the viewer and customer. This makes the work and product more magnetic and enjoyable.
You are globally represented by SHOTVIEW, an agency that also stands for an innovative vision. How does your creative work complement the philosophy and vision of SHOTVIEW, particularly in collaboration with Kozva Rigaud? Synchrodogs: Our collaboration with SHOTVIEW and Kozva Rigaud is rooted in a shared commitment to innovation and pushing creative boundaries. The agency's support allows us to explore unconventional ideas and present our work to a broader audience, inspire through our art. This partnership fosters an environment where experimental concepts are encouraged and realized.
What can we expect from Synchrodogs in the future? Are there any new projects or experimental ideas you're currently working on? Synchrodogs: We are continually exploring new territories in art, integrating technology to create immersive experiences. Our upcoming projects delve deeper into the symbiosis of humanity and nature, science and art, utilizing innovative mediums to evoke thought and emotion. Currently, Roman is working on Trinity, a media art project that goes beyond its form and explores the connection between the harmonic frequencies of nature, humans, consciousness, and art through immersive light and sound experiences. The installation fosters expanded perception and awareness, allowing visitors to attune to balance, flow, and resonance—key components of heightened consciousness.
And Tania is actively working on creating a new project called Innerland which consists of portraits of all kinds of creatives: prominent artists, singers, dancers, and the project already started to gain recognition among International art awards.
Currently, we have our works exhibited in New York in Untitled Space, were selected for participation in European Month of Photography, our AI works were recently shown in "Artificial Reflections" expo in Oslo and were also exhibited in the California Museum of Photography, which is an interesting sign that AI is starting to be accepted in traditional cultural institutions. In other words, life is actively evolving, and we are excited to see what the future brings.

The fashion brand ETNODIM stands for ethnic Ukrainian clothing : “We combine traditional ornaments with symbols of the modern history of Ukraine. With the help of clothes, we pass on our knowledge of modern values and events to the next generations. We turn to the past in order to create the style of a new generation.”
For ETNODIM, our GoSeeAWARDS 2024 winner – SYNCHRODOGS c/o SHOTVIEW A.M. – photographed the campaign presented here.
The label was founded in 2009 in Kyiv by Andriy Cherukha, and the designs come from Lily Kasyanchuk and her team. On the website spendwithukraine.com, you can read a wonderful interview with the founder. We have an excerpt for you here:
How are you doing now (how has the war affected your business)? In 2014, the Revolution of Dignity, the Russian occupation of Crimea, and the subsequent war unleashed by Russia in eastern Ukraine served as a wake-up call for us, compelling us to cherish and preserve Ukraine, its culture, and its people. This crucial moment ignited an increased demand for Ukrainian products, including embroidered clothing, as a symbol of national identity.
With the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the entire Ukraine woke up. People who once felt hesitant to proudly wear embroidered shirts, speak Ukrainian, and embrace Ukrainian traditions and history now joined the cultural defense movement.
Today, our efforts have only intensified. Our team has doubled in size over the past year and continues to welcome new members, particularly from the eastern and southern regions of Ukraine who were forced to flee their homes due to the occupation. Our ultimate goal is to inspire a worldwide love for Ukrainian culture through visual expressions, encouraging support for Ukraine and its nation.
Your brand has many products inspired by various cultural phenomena in Ukraine, such as, for example, Easter eggs, works by Ukrainian philosopher Hryhoriy Skovroda, and the legendary Slovo house for writers in Kharkiv. Where do you draw the inspiration to create such unique products? Our motivated team lives and breathes Ukraine, immersing itself in its culture and constantly exploring its past and present events. Our designers, Lilya Kasyanchuk, Anya Fesenko, Maria Pavlyuchenko, and art manager Manana Glonti draw inspiration for creating embroidered garments from Ukrainian art, literature, and historical events. To create a truly unique ornament with a powerful concept, it is essential to delve deep into Ukrainian life, studying and embracing its diverse aspects with genuine interest and love.
What role does your brand play in preserving the art of Ukrainian embroidery for future generations? At Etnodim, we have a distinctive feature that comes with a great responsibility: we create ornaments that carry new meanings relevant to today’s society. Our aim is to capture the essence of modern Ukrainian history, our revitalized identity, forgotten narratives, perspectives, and the aspirations of our people. This is why we dedicate our embroidered shirts to a range of subjects, including Crimea, the bravery of Ukrainian cities during the full-scale invasion, Ukrainian artists, the generation of the Executed Renaissance, historical landmarks like the Flowers of Ukraine, and significant events within our nation.
What is the significance of traditional Ukrainian embroidered clothing in modern Ukrainian culture?
Vyshyvanka is the visual language of our nation, a cherished part of our cultural heritage. Through these intricate designs, we weave together traditional ornaments with symbols reflecting Ukraine’s modern history, imparting wisdom and contemporary values to future generations. We turn to the past to create the style of a new era.
