featured by ART ACT : Tape Artist ATAU c/o ART ACT designs rooms of the JvM Academy in Hamburg – and meet Atau at UPDATE-22-BERLIN at the booth of ART ACT

This spectacular project took more than nine weeks of hard work and is comprised of six rooms adorned with tape art as well as a mural for the floor of the academy terrace. In its entirety, the artwork spans one whole floor of the Hamburg JVM branch. The individual rooms are connected to create a coherent piece of artwork. Berlin-based tape artist ATAU c/o ART ACT was supported by Matheo Roman, aka @cord.matheo.

Atau on his artwork : “I am an artist based in Berlin who works with tape. My artwork, installations and murals can be found in galleries, exhibitions, street art events and festivals around the world. Developing new space experiences using tape and interacting with a given space fascinates me. I create unique artistic concepts in order to reshape interior and exterior spaces.”


The magazine PAGE dedicated its ‘Portrait of the Week’ to him – in which he tells us : “Already when I was a student, I was always totally absorbed in redesigning my books. I was born in Berlin and grew up under the same roof as the two media artists Gusztav Hámos and Katja Pratschke in Kreuzberg. As far back as I can remember, my parents gave me the freedom to develop my creativity. While I was still going to school, I founded the artist collective Solit together with three friends from the neighborhood. I designed the logo, fashion, stickers and our social media site. In 2018, I came across tape as a medium by chance and decided to continue focusing on my tape artwork. I began to work with various other artists and worked on art projects as a freelance artist for which I cooperated with brands such as Adidas, Samsung or Audi. During this time, my fascination with tape art and the endless possibilities of the medium continued to grow. I have since created installations and other works of art in various countries throughout Europe as well as in Japan, Taiwan and China.”

The representation ALYSSA PIZER, Los Angeles, is delighted to welcome NEW entry Caitlin Mitchell : “Caitlin grew up in an A-frame log cabin in Alaska. Her father gifted her his 35mm Pentax, and her love for image making began. After receiving her Communication degree from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon, Caitlin moved to New York City. She assisted for several big names and traveled the world working on major productions.

She currently collaborates, focused on wellness, with clients in the areas of advertising, editorial, celebrity and beauty. Her work has been described as emotionally arousing, evocative and sensual, while her style of photographing has been noted for her studio lighting, use of natural light, as well as her documentary approach to fashion photography.”

Caitlin lives in Brooklyn at the moment with her Italian partner and their five children : two stepchildren, one baby and two overweight cats entirely in love with themselves by the names of Mojo and Banksy.
